Isaacson Tees Off For Alderson Broaddus

Emily Isaacson ( Jamestown/Jamestown) and the Alderson Broaddus women’s golf team took third out of eight teams at the Ohio Valley University Women’s Golf Classic held at the Marietta Country Club. The sophomore finished tied with teammate Brittanie Bolten for 13th place with a two-day score of 90-91-181. Monday, the team traveled to the Bing-Beall Fall Classic at Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio.

Marissa Del Monaco (Little-Valley/Southwestern) and Niagara women’s golf team competed in the Golden Grizzlies Invitational hosted by Oakland University last Tuesday and took home sixth place out of nine teams. Del Monaco finished tied for 20th place thanks to an 18-over-par score of 162. The team will travel to La Salle University for a match on Monday.

St. Bonaventure sophomore Nolan Ditcher (Randolph/Randolph) fired a 76 on Tuesday to lead his team to a head-to-head win on the road against Siena in the first ever Murray Cup. Just 24 hours earlier Ditcher carded a 9-over-par total of 153 after rounds of 75 and 78 at the Matthews Auto/Binghamton Intercollegiate played on The Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin. The Bonnies took home the team title for the second consecutive year out of a field of 17 teams.

Last Tuesday at the George Mason Intercollegiate in Chantilly, Virginia. Ditcher fired rounds of 76-83-75 as the Bonnies took home eighth place out of 16 teams. St. Bonaventure now travels to Little Three Championship at Niagara Falls Country Club on Oct. 19.

In his past four matches, Cody Latimer (Mayville/Chautauqua Lake) and his teammates have taken three firsts and a second place for the SUNY Cobleskill golf team.

Most recently Latimer shot the best round of the year for the Orange & Black on his way to an individual title at the 2017 Paul Smith’s Invitational, with a 2-under-par 70. In his previous match against host Elmira, Latimer fired a 7-over-par 79 to tie for third overall in a field of 33 golfers with teammate Dylan Mulvihill. Latimer was named the Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week for his efforts by the Cobleskill Department of Sport & Exercise.

Bryce Morrison (Kennedy/Randolph) has helped push Alfred to a 5-0 overall record in NCAA Division III football and a 3-0 record in the Empire 8 Conference, with consecutive wins over University of Rochester, Buffalo State and St. John Fisher on Saturday.

In the Saxons’ win over Rochester, Morrison went to the air 15 times for 85 yards and a touchdown with no picks, and picked up a 6-yard scramble.

Quarterback Jake Sisson (Jamestown/Jamestown) led Edinboro (3-3, 1-2 PSAC) under center in a 45-10 over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference foe Clarion (0-5, 0-2) in Week 5. The former Red Raider threw 18 times, completing 13 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. Sisson completed a 60-yard throw on the day and found junior receiver James Clark on both scores, while also scrambling for 4 yards.

Linebacker A.J. Hulton (Maple Grove/Chautauqua Lake/Westfield) was in on five tackles for Edinboro against Clarion as well as five against Gannon to bring his season total to 33. In Week 4 against Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Hulton finished with six tackles and a sack for a loss of 5 yards.

On Saturday, Gannon claimed a 47 -25 win PSAC win over Edinboro. Sisson threw for 114 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

The Fighting Scots will now host PSAC opponent Mercyhurst for their homecoming weekend next Saturday at 2 p.m., the Lakers are currently 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

Stephen Carlson (Jamestown/Jamestown) has helped push Princeton University to a 3-1 overall record and an 0-1 mark in the Ivy League this season. On Saturday, in a 50-30 win in over Georgetown, Carlson totaled 87 yards on five catches for one score. To date the junior has caught 24 passes this season for 379 yards and five scores.

Junior Jonah Tanner (Jamestown/Maple Grove) has aided Allegany College to a record of 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. The Gators posted a 57-40 win over Hiram this past week, when Tanner ended his day with three tackles, of which the junior has 20 one the season as well as a pick. Allegany will now face a tough test against NCAC opponent Wittenberg (4-0, 3-0) on the road next Saturday at 12 p.m.

Hope Pietrocarlo (Bemus Point/Maple Grove) pushed the Edinboro Fighting Scots to a 13th-place team finish out of a field of 35 on Saturday at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Crossover in Romeoville, Illinois. The redshirt freshman took 78th place in a time of 23:20.8, taking second behind teammate Stefanie Parsons who ran a 22:34.7. Pietrocarlo also aided the Fighting Scots in claiming a first place NCAA Division II team finish at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 29. Pietrocarlo took eighth in a time of 22:03, and was followed closely by her classmates as four of the top five finishers for Edinboro were freshman. Next up for the Fighting Scots will be the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships in California, Pa. on Oct. 21.

Brooke Latour (Lakewood/Southwestern) and the Buffalo State women’s volleyball team are currently sitting on a record of 5-15 overall and 1-4 in the SUNYAC after a loss to SUNY New Paltz on Friday and a win over Plattsburg on Saturday. In her last three outings Latour has posted 13 kills, 12 digs and 16 points.
