To The Reader’s Forum:

I don’t know when Leonard Pitts wrote his “retirement” column, which appeared in the P-J on 12/24/22. I have found his opinions to be unique and a great addition to the regular opinion columns appearing in the P-J. His perspective on the unresolved issues affecting Americans (e.g., human rights, democracy, gun violence, the misinformation crisis and more”) will be missed. His reference to Carol Burnett’s signature “sign-off” and his final question to his readers, “Isn’t it amazing how fast the years go”, was exactly why I found him unique. Pitts always gave readers so much to ponder.

I/we owe the P-J well-deserved credit for publishing Pitts’ column weekly so as to give the readership his unique, well-developed perspective. I hope the P-J will find a comparable replacement for Pitts’ column.
