As a lifelong resident and City Councilman here in Jamestown, I take immense pride in our community’s resilience and values. It’s heartening to see leaders like Congressman Nick Langworthy embody these principles, consistently standing up for our district both in Washington and back home.

Recently, Congressman Langworthy played a pivotal role in securing federal funding for a comprehensive study by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Chautauqua Lake. This initiative aims to restore the lake’s aquatic ecosystems, improve habitats, and enhance recreational opportunities, all while addressing flood risks and public health concerns. Langworthy has expressed his commitment to being a full partner in efforts to ensure Chautauqua Lake is enjoyed for generations to come, striving to create a better legacy for this cherished natural resource.

In stark contrast, Governor Hochul’s administration has introduced new wetland regulations that could hinder property owners around Chautauqua Lake. These changes, including expanded buffer zones and increased permit requirements, may impose significant burdens on local residents and businesses, potentially stifling growth and infringing on property rights.

Furthermore, the proposed legislation requiring firearm owners to obtain liability insurance of at least $1 million places an undue financial strain on law-abiding citizens. Such measures seem to target responsible gun owners rather than addressing the root causes of gun violence.

A particularly troubling example of the state’s misaligned priorities and another example of the Governor favoring criminals to law-abiding citizens, is the recent correctional officers’ strike. I was proud to see Congressman Langworthy and State Senator Borrello stand alongside these officers on the picket lines, advocating for safer working conditions and highlighting the consequences of policies like the HALT Act. The state’s decision to release certain inmates early due to staffing shortages raises concerns about public safety and the message it sends about accountability.

In these challenging times, it’s reassuring to have leaders like Congressman Langworthy who prioritize the well-being and values of our community. His dedication to our County through promoting tourism, supporting manufacturing, and safeguarding our rights exemplifies the strong Republican leadership that makes our district a great place to live.

Sincerely,

Randy Daversa
