Charles M. Shaffer, 67, passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2026, at his home with family by his side. Born on Feb. 2, 1959, in Salamanca, Charles was a man whose passion for life and love for his family was immense.

He leaves behind a legacy through his children, Charles (April) Shaffer Jr, Jason (Stephanie) Doner, Chasity Kubic, Angel (Roger Woodcock Jr.) Doner, Denae (Thomas Dalton) Doner, and Sarah (Michael) Smith. His role as a grandfather was one he truly cherished. His spirit lives on through grandchildren, Justina, Skyler, Austin, Jayla, Logan, Maxwell, Jayden, Joleena, Kailyn, Jack, Landon, Hope, Jordan, Trevor, Layla, Aaliyah, and Lexi, as well as his beloved great-grandchildren, Caleigh and Victoria.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest Sr. and Phyllis (Covert) Shaffer, and his siblings, Ernest L., Robert P., Terry, Anna, and one nephew, Robert Shaffer Jr.

Spending many years self employed, he worked as a logger skidding with work horses and cutting firewood. He also spent many years working for the union installing glass in buildings including the Nascar Hall of Fame in Charlotte NC and Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo NY.

Charles was full of surprises and lived life on his own terms. He enjoyed going to livestock auctions and would often come home with a new animal. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life. He enjoyed hosting a family pig roast each year that became a cherished tradition. Charles found solace in the quieter moments of life as well, often found sitting on the porch or under his willow tree, listening to music, smoking cigars and sipping on his juicies.
