He was also a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Vikings Lodge IOV #65, and the Monday Morning Dwyer Project Group. As a loyal member, he loved attending the Sportsmen’s Club for sixty years.

He was a former member of the Lakewood YMCA and the Rotary Club of Jamestown where he was the recipient of the Paul Harris Award. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and as a councilman for the Town of Ellery for twenty years.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Schaumberg Steen, whom he married Feb. 17, 1962, in Short Hills, N.J; a son, William S. (Julia) Steen III of Bemus Point; two daughters: Jane K.
