Timothy D. “Otis” Moorhead

He was born April 9, 1958 in Westfield, NY, son of William and Julia (Jones) Moorhead.

A lifelong resident of Sherman, he was a graduate of Sherman Central School, Class of 1976.

Otis worked at Maplevale Farms, Inc. in Clymer NY and continued when the company moved to Falconer NY where he retired after 40 years. He had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed watching football, basketball, NASCAR and golf on television. Otis also enjoyed playing golf, bowling, boating and playing cards with his buddies. A kind and helpful person, while he enjoyed mowing his own lawn, he also mowed the lawns for neighbors and friends. He was a happy, positive, cheerful person, and loved by so many friends. He was never negative, never angry, friendly, and would help anyone do anything. Above all, Otis was a loving Poppy. He loved watching his son and grandson play sports, especially football.

Otis is survived by his children: Devin Moorhead (Abbi Baker), of Sherman and Haley Ottaway (Chris), of Sherman; grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Aaron Moorhead, Ember Moorhead, Linkin Ottaway; sisters: Kathleen Moorhead- Crawford (Bob), of Ocala, FL and Melinda Graham, of Williamston, SC; a brother, Dwain Moorhead of Houston, TX; also several cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews as well as many friends, especially his best friends, Cory and Michelle Emory, Greg Field and Dave Wassink.

Otis is preceded in death by his parents, William and Julia Moorhead as well as his children’s mother, Tara.

Calling hours will be Friday from 3-5 pm & 6-8 pm at the Sherman Community Church, 107 Church St., Sherman, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 am.
