Peter Louis Coggiola

Peter Louis Coggiola, 99, of Brookdale of Lakewood, formerly of Falconer passed away Tuesday (April 9, 2024) in Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Care, Warsaw, NY.

A lifelong area resident he was born December 17, 1924 in Falconer, NY, the son of the late John and Primitiva Verquer Coggiola.

Louis was a 1941 graduate of Falconer High School and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army, Company A 129th Airborne Engineer Battalion. He served in the Paratroopers and Gliders Airborne on the invasion of Germany, and was in the Battle of The Bulge.

Prior to retirement Louis was employed by Ellison Bronze for 47 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church and the church choir. Louis was also a member of the Henry Mosher Post 638, American Legion, AMVETS Post 1996, War Vets and Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He was a life member of the 17th Airborne Association and John W. Tiffany Post 53, VFW.

Surviving are a daughter Celeste (James) Straka of Dallas, GA; two sons: Peter (Deborah) Coggiola of Silver Springs, NY, John (Jill) Coggiola of Liverpool, NY; seven grandchildren: Julia Straka, James Peter(Robin) Coggiola, Thomas (Amanda) Coggiola, Kelsey (Jared) Boyd, Nicholas Coggiola, Julie Coggiola, John Coggiola; two step grandchildren: Chris Straka, Amanda Straka; ten great grandchildren: Maddison Coggiola, Dominic Coggiola, Devin Coggiola, Dylan Coggiola, Benjamin Coggiola, Lillian Coggiola, Jacob Coggiola, Maddox Boyd, Averie Boyd and Hudson Louis Boyd and two step daughters: Judy Cresanti and Cynthia Hinsdale.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Sarah J. Cimo Coggiola whom he married July 31, 1948, who died May 27, 1985; his second wife Margaret M. Passanise Cresanti Coggiola whom he married May 21, 1993, who died December 17, 2011; two sisters: Josephine Race, Erma Coggiola, a daughter-in-law, Deborah Conklin Coggiola, and a step-daughter Debra Cresanti.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday (April 22, 2024) in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (April 21, 2024) in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Altar and Rosary Society of OLL will conduct a rosary service at 1:45 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 4:45 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
