James Phillip Leach

James Phillip Leach, 71, of Randolph, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at home of natural causes.

He was born Aug. 20, 1952 in Jamestown, NY the son of Harold Leach of Jamestown and the late Joyce Rhinehart.

Jim was a graduate of Maple Grove Central School and attended Jamestown Community College. He was currently self-employed as a carpenter and for many years had worked with Local 66 Carpenters Union in Jamestown.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors and was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Randolph Elibomwons Snowmobile Club. He was an avid hockey fan – boy did he play some good games in his youth! He was a strong, proud man who had a soft spot for cats and watching old western reruns on TV. Most importantly though he will be remembered as a loving and devoted father and grandfather with a heart of gold.

He is survived by his father Harold Leach of Jamestown, a son; Steven (Jennifer Langworthy) Leach of Greenhurst, three daughters; Kelly (Justin LeRoy) Leach of Bemus Point, Jessica Sayers and Angela (Troy Taylor) Leach, all of Randolph, two sisters; Sandy (Bradley) Anderson of Panama and Holly (Henry) Schrader of Lunenburg, MA.

He is additionally survived by eight grandchildren; Brae Leach, Hadden Brooks, Julian Taylor, Anna Sayers, Gavin Richardson, Lucy Sayers, Finnegan Leach, and Shawn Sayers.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Joyce and Donald Malmarose.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and will be announced by the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph.
