Ellen McKeon Connell

Ellen McKeon Connell, 78, passed away Sunday evening April 21st at UPMC in Erie, PA.

She was born April 2, 1946, in Flushing, NY the youngest daughter of the late James and Catherine McKeon. Ellen was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Manhasset NY, and St. Claire’s Nursing School in Manhattan, NY.

Prior to 1990, Ellen grew up and lived in Manhasset, Long Island, where she has many fond memories of her early years as a child as well as raising her 3 daughters there. She relocated to Lakewood, NY in 1991, making the move as a result of her husband Andy Connell purchasing Superior Jamestown/Adanlock Manufacturing. She enjoyed gardening, being a homemaker, wife to Andy, mother to her 3 daughters, and grandmother to her 7 grandchildren.

In addition, she was a lifelong nurse, starting as a candy striper when she was a young girl, to working in St. Francis’ Emergency Room, working in private practices, and returning to WCA Hospital in her later years.

A woman of strong faith, she was a member of Holy Apostles Parish and Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Predeceased by her husband Andrew J. Connell of 48 years, Ellen is survived by her three daughters whom she loved dearly, Eileen Turner (Andrew), Noreen Feldmann (Christopher), and Bevin Shults (Ed III). In addition, she will forever miss her seven grandchildren who brought her great joy and pride, Ryan, Cate, and Will Feldmann, Drew and Ali Turner, and Parker and Eddie Shults.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, she leaves behind her sisters Katherine McKeon Meyer and Patricia McKeon Puttre, sisters in law Susan Connell Murphy and Pamela Swan Connell, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Thursday April 25th, in Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Reverend Paul Cygan will be the celebrant.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
