Isabel (Riso) Schnizler Wright

Isabel (Riso) Schnizler Wright, 97, passed away March 23, 2024, in Douglassville, PA. She was the wife of the late Charles John Schnizler of Jamestown, NY; and remarried to the late Dr. Robert B. Wright of Macon, GA. She was the daughter of the late Ovid and Isabelle (Weynand) Riso.

Always up for adventure and a learning experience, Isabel was born in New York City, grew up in Haddon Heights, NJ; lived in New Rochelle and Porchester, NY; raised a family in Jamestown, NY; lived on Guam for two years; adopted Macon, GA as her home for 40 years; and lived out her life near her daughter in Reading, PA. She was a proud 1948 graduate of Barnard College and world traveler.

A pioneer career woman, great supporter of the arts, and consummate wordsmith, Isabel’s career spanned many titles in the field of public relations, advertising, and journalism. She illustrated cells for Mighty Mouse cartoons; taught English at Jamestown Business College; was Public Relations Director for WCA Hospital (now UPMC) in Jamestown, NY; was a feature writer for the Pacific Daily News on Guam; and an editorial writer for the Macon Telegraph in Macon, GA, retiring as an Associate Editor in 1988. She continued to write in retirement, extending her career with freelance writing assignments as well as for enjoyment with the Macon (GA) Writers’ Club.

While living in Macon, Isabel was a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church; American Association of University Women; The League of Women Voters; Macon Arts Alliance; Midsummer Macon at Wesleyan University; and the Middle Georgia Girl Scout Council.

Isabel was preceded in death by her son, attorney Robert Weynand Schnizler, of Jamestown, NY.

She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Schnizler Wilt (Dale Wilt) of Reading, Pennsylvania; beloved grandchildren, Mitchell Charles Wilt of Charlotte, NC and Erin Marie Wilt (Peter Miller) of Boston, MA; and stepchildren Carol Wright Dearing; William Wright; Joann Wright Scherrer; John Wright; and Paul Wright.

Private interment will take place at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Lakewood, NY. Memorials may be made to a local arts program of the donor’s choice.
