Charles Sture Johnson
Charles Sture Johnson
Charles Sture Johnson was reunited with his wife Suellen Smith on Monday, March 20, 2023 at the age of 78. Charlie graduated from Jamestown High School in 1962 and Jamestown Community College in 1964. He married the love of his life that same year. The two of them raised eight children and lived throughout the country in places like New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Missouri, West Virginia, and Utah.
Charlie lived a life fully dedicated to the service of his church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents (Carl Johnson and Sigrid Ljungberg), wife (Suellen), sister (Joan), brother (Gene), and granddaughter (Morgan). Charlie is survived by his brother (John) and eight children (Todd, Blair, Amy, Sara, Megan, Amanda, Tyler, and Errin) along with 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Charlie leaves behind a legacy of sports fans from baseball to football, from tennis to Formula 1 racing. He is remembered for his service to those in need and his kind heart. His love for physics is remembered with his joke: “My wife thought with the right side of the brain, and I thought with the left side of the brain so together we had a full brain.” Charlie was especially proud of his work as a mechanical engineer. He created and maintained countless pumps to help treat water. The treatment of water is the number one cause for the increase in life expectancy, and he took great pride in knowing he was helping humanity.
Charlie is looking down on us all sticking his tongue out; after all, it means “I Love You.” Just ask him.
Charlie will be interned next to his wife in West Valley City, UT. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to make donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
