Lynnette “Lynn” Klingensmith

Lynnette “Lynn” Klingensmith

Lynnette “Lynn” Klingensmith, 48, of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Nov. 25, 2022, in her home surrounded by her family.

Lynn was born Aug. 30, 1974, in Buffalo, N.Y., a daughter of Donald (Kathleen) Garrett and Annette Schiedel.

After graduating from Frontier Central High School in 1992, Lynn earned an associate degree in business administration from Erie Community College and a bachelors degree in business management from Empire State College.

Lynn was employed at Jamestown Community College as an administrative assistant for the College Connections program. Those who worked with Lynn knew she was the ultimate professional and someone who could be called on for help, even in the most stressful situations. Her unparalleled work ethic and her friendly, welcoming demeanor earned her the SUNY JCC President’s Award and the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in 2021. In addition to her fulltime job, Lynn also worked part-time as a server at The Chop House on Main in downtown Jamestown.

Lynn could light up any room with her smile and infectious laugh. Despite the challenges she faced, she made the best of any situation. She held her head high and persevered, always putting the needs of others above her own.

Lynn loved boating on Chautauqua Lake and was a member of the Vikings Club. She looked forward to vacations in Florida and laying in the sun on the beach. Lynn was a fan of most music and enjoyed attending concerts with her daughter. In the summertime, Lynn would look forward to cruising around in her Jeep with the top down.

Besides her parents, Lynn will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Eric Klingensmith, whom she married on Au. 21, 2010; daughter, Devyn Banko; stepson, Chad Klingensmith; brother, Donald Garrett; father-in-law, Larry Klingensmith. Lynn will also be remembered by Buster, her beloved cat, who stayed by her side until her very last day.

To her family, friends, and colleagues, Lynn was truly one of a kind. And while she loved life and the people in it, her family gave her the greatest joy. For Lynn, nothing meant more.

Lynn was preceded in death by her sister, Kelly Garrett; and mother-in-law, Helen Klingensmith.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, at the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Adam Rohler will officiate.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Lynn Klingensmith Scholarship at the Jamestown Community College Foundation. 525 Falconer St., Jamestown, NY 14701.
