Helen Hoglin
Helen Chapin Phillips Hoglin of Jamestown, NY passed away March 31, 2021 at UPMC Chautauqua.
She was the wife of Courtney A. Hoglin, who she married May 29, 1952 and who died March 7, 2014.
A lifelong area resident, she was born August 24, 1931, in the town of Ellicott, the daughter of Lawrence and Ruth Chapin Phillips. She graduated as Valedictorian from Bemus Point Central School, Class of 1949.
In earlier years, she worked at Chautauqua Hardware, Jamestown Veneer & Plywood, and Chautauqua County Support Collection Unit, retiring in 1996 after 25 years.
A lifetime member of Fluvanna Community Church, she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member for 40 years.
Surviving are: a son Steven (Elaine) Hoglin of Jamestown, NY and two daughters Sherry (Bud) Foust of Sugar Grove, PA and Debbie (Jeff) Lindell of Lakewood, NY, along with eight grandchildren, Gretchen (Bryan) Goodall of Allen, TX, Jaime Lindell of Cambridge, MA, Brad (Caitlin) Foust of King George, VA, Jay (Teresa) Lindell of Grand Island, NY, Kerri (David) Ahlbin of North Ridgeville, OH, Pam (Mark) VanVolkenburg of Jamestown, NY, Jim (Jocelyn) Hoglin of Witchita, KS, and Brenda (Phil) Wagner of Jamestown, NY, and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Roger Phillips in 1990 and her sister Carol Shay in 2014.
Helen donated her remains to the University of Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program. No calling hours will be observed. Committal will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to thank Memory Garden for the care they gave mom over the last year. We would also like to thank the staff at UPMC for their excellent care in her final days.
