Henry Edward Wilson

Henry Edward Wilson, 90, of 3690 Old State Road, Sugar Grove, Pa., passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020, at the Kinzua Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Warren.

He was the husband of Alvera Josephine (Carlson) Wilson, whom he married Jan. 28, 1950, and who died April 16, 2017.

Henry was born Feb. 20, 1930 in Corry, Pa., a son of the late Henry E. and Cora Stormer Wilson. He served in the U.S Army from 1950- 51 and again from 1952- 53.

A furniture maker, Henry was employed for over 42 years by Union National Furniture Co. in Jamestown, N.Y., and also owned and operated a dairy farm in Lander, Pa., since 1957.

He had been a member of the Lakewood American Legion, Lander Fire Department and the Bear Lake Dairy Association.

“Hank” was a beloved man in his small town of Lander and his last residence of Kinzua Healthcare and Rehab. He was known for his quick wit, drinking coffee and “shooting the breeze” with friends and neighbors. He had a kind heart and was always thinking of others first. His love of animals was evident in his care of his dairy cows and his beloved dog, “Buddy”. He loved to spend time with his family, and he especially enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills make it to the Super Bowl. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by four children: Steven (Patricia) Wilson of Sugar Grove, Teresa (Jeff) Galletta of Russell, Pa., Ronald Wilson of Lander, Pa., and Carol (Jim) Stowe of Russell. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Dr. Raymond Wilson (Dr. Ava Walton) of Hawaii, Benjamin (Lindsey) Wilson of Warren, Pa., DavyJo (Mike) Johnson of Warren, Christopher (Arianne) Stowe of Pittsburgh, Pa., Rachel Stowe and Emily Stowe, both of Russell, Myria Wilson (Bill Powell) of Warren, Anna (Ryan) Vik of Celoron and Sara (Mike) Bogniak of Russell; 18 great- grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Alvera, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Westerlund; two sisters: Neva Carlson and Betty Pierce; and three brothers: Howard Kelsey, Fred Kelsey and Ray Wilson.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Cable Hollow Church. The Rev. Allan Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Foster Cemetery, Lander.

Observing Pennsylvania’s protocol, the family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday for two hours prior to the service in the church.

The Cable Hollow Church has requested that callers practice social distancing and wear masks during the visitation hours as well as during the service. Thank you for your cooperation.
