Alice L. Marsh Tubbs
Alice L. Marsh Tubbs, 88, of Stockton, passed away, Friday, March 13, 2020, at Brooks Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 5, 1932, in Newport, N.H., a daughter of the late Lawrence and Bernice Stillson Golden.
A Chautauqua County resident most of her life, she was a 1951 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School and previously attended Fredonia State College.
In her younger years, she had worked with the cleaning staff at the former Cassadaga Elementary School and at the Stockton Hotel. Alice spent most of her career as a fraud investigator for the Chautauqua County Department of Social Services, retiring after more than 20 years of service.
She was a former member of the Stockton Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and CSEA. Alice enjoyed playing cribbage and loved quilting.
Wife of 41 years to her first husband, the late Gordon R. Marsh, whom she married Sept. 17, 1950, and who died June 26, 1992 and her second husband, the late Doug Tubbs; mother of Gordon R. (Kelly) Marsh Jr. of Niagara Falls and the late Louise Harriman, Rose Marie, Ronald and Allan Richard Marsh; grandmother of Dale G. (Amy) Harriman and Scott R.J. Marsh and the late Nathan Dale Harriman; and one great-granddaughter; sister of the late Rita Kohler, Richard Golden; half-sister of Julia Burke, Bernice Ducat and Hazel Mobley. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Stockton.
