Jacklyn Horn

Jacklyn Horn, 79, formerly of Hunter Street, 8 Crane St., and 213 Bowen St., where she resided and was cared for by her daughter, Justine and son-in-law, Mike for nine months, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday Dec. 1, 2019, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Feb. 8, 1940, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Magnus H. and Doris M. Russell Beckstrom.

Jacklyn was a 1958 graduate of Jamestown High School and graduated with her associates degree from Jamestown Community College.

Prior to retirement, she worked as a lab technician in the office of Dr. Kenneth Suh, and earlier worked for Dr. Sood, Jamestown General Hospital, and WCA Hospital. In earlier years, she attended the Camp Street United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, and was currently attending the Church on The Rock. She was baptized in July and recently hosted her first small group meeting in her home. She was a life member of the Bush School PTA, and was a scout leader. Through her work, she met many people that she did not consider patients, but friends. She enjoyed making crafts and the best chocolate chip cookies to share and brighten their day. She always encouraged others by sending a card or a note, even though she was not always feeling well herself. She was loved by everyone.

Surviving are three daughters: Justine A. (Mike) Russell of Jamestown, Jody L. (James) Lewis of Kannapolis, N.C., and Janelle S. (Chris) Rasmussen of Copra Cove, Texas; a son, James R. (Linda) Horn of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Melissa, Lauren, Brandon, Dylan, Kyleigh and Alyssa; four great-grandchildren: Elliana, Hunter, Easton, and Arizona; a sister, Sally (The Rog) Beckstrom of Jamestown; and a brother, Magnus (Janet) Beckstrom of Las Vegas.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Horn Jr., whom she married in 1962, and who died in 1997; and a sister, Barbara Johnson.

A celebration of Jacklyn’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 15, 2019, at the Koinonia Christian Fellowship, 1427 Peck Settlement Road, Jamestown. The Rev. Doug Kibbe, lead pastor of Church on the Rock will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church on the Rock, 567 Fairmount Ave. WE, Jamestown, NY 14701 or Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
