John W. Andrews

John W. Andrews, 86, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019.

As a lifelong area resident, he was born April 9, 1933, in Falconer, the son of late John and Elnora (Jimerson) Andrews.

John attended Falconer High School. In earlier years, he had been employed at Sherman Brothers and prior to retirement, he was employed by Dahlstrom’s Manufacturing as a foreman. He was also a member of the Seneca Nation of Indians Wolf Clan.

He was an avid photographer, modeler and collector of circus wagons and trains along with some ships and war planes. He also enjoyed walking, not only to shop for his hobbies, but to stay active and socialize.

Surviving are his two daughters: Ellana (Augie) Bloomquist of Las Vegas, Nev., and Cheryl Green of Streetsboro, Ohio; three grandchildren: A.J. (Katie) Bloomquist of Stamford, Conn., Patrick and Jessica Green both of Ohio; two sisters: Dorothy (Robert) Newman and Ruth (Ted) Thompson, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Lois M. Andrews, who died March 25, 2013.

John was appreciative to everyone who took care of him in time of need, including his close neighbors, the Visiting Nurses Association, Meals on Wheels and the Heritage Park staff.

Per John’s wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service.
