Melissa S. “Mimi” Trask

Melissa S. “Mimi” Trask, 40, of Westfield, N.Y., went peacefully to her Lord and Savior on July 19, 2019, while in her mother’s loving arms.

Although Melissa had several illnesses in her life time, she was a fighter and lived well past her life expectancy.

She was born April 25, 1979, in El Cajon, Calif., and later moved to Palm Bay, Fla. She graduated from Palm Bay High School. She also participated in Special Olympics. Her favorite things in life were giving sweet kisses and hugs, McDonalds, carousels, makeup, jewelry and shopping.

Mimi spent the past few years in a group home in Westfield and attended the Resource Center Day Hab in Dunkirk, where she had many friends.

Everyone that met her loved her. She always had a smile. Her love was unconditional.

Melissa is survived by her mother, Susan Welch Mariner, and step-father, David Mariner; her brother, Neil; uncle, Don; and aunt, LouAnn Welch; a cousin, Kayla; along with maternal grandparents Doris and Al Arnold; step-grandmother Donna; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Chad; grandfather, Douglas Welch; great-grandparents, Hazel and Claire Welch, Alice Ackley.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to offset funeral expenses.
