Matthew E. Ribbing

Matthew E. Ribbing, 42, of 328 Hall Ave., went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 22, 2019, in UPMC Chautauqua.

An area resident all of his life, he was born January 5, 1977, in Jamestown, a son of Steven and Kay Kelly Ribbing.

He was a 1995 graduate of Falconer Central School and later graduated from the Sheriff’s Academy at Jamestown Community College and furthered his education at SUNY Fredonia.

He was a self employed contractor and earlier had worked for Lakewood- Busti and Jamestown Police Departments as a police officer. He was proud to be a member of the SWAT Team while serving the City of Jamestown.

Matt enjoyed cooking, working outside, hunting and spending time at the beach by the ocean. More than anything he loved taking care of his family and cherished time spent with his children.

Surviving besides his parents of Jamestown are his wife, Georgeanna Guiffrida Ribbing; three children: Seth, Nathan and Brynn Ribbing; three stepchildren: Tobi and Trey Culpepper and Claire Guiffrida; three brothers: Michael (Laura) Ribbing of Rochester, Jon (Melissa) Ribbing of Columbus, Ohio, and Steven Ribbing, Jr. of Jamestown; nieces and nephews: Damian, Kaleb, Jadyn, Kyler, Carrie, Jenna, Danny; and maternal grandmother, Bonnie Nash of Chautauqua.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, John and Dorothy Ribbing Jr. and Charles Nash.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Fluvanna Community Church.

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
