MAYVILLE — Viola Mae Webber Nickerson, 90, of Mayville, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at her home.
She was born March 12, 1929, in Mayville, the daughter of the late Donald J. Webber Sr, and Caroline Spinks Webber.
Viola had been a homemaker, a dairy farmer’s wife, and a former nurses’ aid at the Waters of Westfield Nursing Home.
She belonged to the North Harmony United Methodist Church, the Ladies Aid Group at North Harmony UMC, the Stateline Draft Horse Club, the Quilting Club, was a previous 4H Leader, and helped with running voting booths.
Viola enjoyed quilting, cross word puzzles, horses, living the farming life, watching her grand- children’s sporting events, and time with family, especially family reunions.
She is survived by her three children: Terry Lee (Jane) Nickerson of Mayville, Timothy E. (Julie) Nickerson of Stedman, and Randall J. (Lisa) Nickerson of Mayville, nine grandchildren; Aaron (Erica) Nickerson, Jennifer (Alex) Sierra, Vaun (Ginger) Nickerson, John (Allyson) Nickerson, Karen (Ryan) Doles, Jerry (Erynne) Rooney, Jesse (Candance) Rooney, Shane (Samantha) Nickerson, and Derrick (Rochelle) Nickerson, and 24 great- grandchildren.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Lee S. Nickerson, whom she married June 4, 1949, at the North Harmony United Methodist Church, her parents, a daughter, Sandra Lee Nickerson, a brother, Donald Webber Jr.; and two sisters: Katherine Martinson and Phyllis Nickerson.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, April 15, 2019, at the Freay Funeral Home (139 S Erie St.) in Mayville. The Rev. Joe Osborne will officiate. Burial will be in the North Harmony Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., on Sunday, April 14, at the funeral home, and from noon until 2 p.m., on Monday before the funeral service, at the funeral home.
