SOUTH DAYTON — John T. Lycett, 74, of Cherry Street, South Dayton, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, following a brief illness. He was born in Buffalo, on Dec. 18, 1944, the son of the late Harry C. and Ruth (Roloff) Lycett. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served in the National Guard.
Mr. Lycett worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for the New York State Thruway Authority, Westfield, retiring in 2002 after 25 years of service, and was an expert Class A Ham Radio operator “JJ2L” and an avid motorcycle rider.
Survivors include his wife Priscilla (Goodnoe) Lycett, of South Dayton, whom he married on July 31, 2004, in Forestville, four sons Scott (Lori) Lycett, of Orchard Park; Jeffery (Jodi) Lycett, of Utah; Brian Lycett, of South Dayton; James Lycett, of Virginia; a step son, Nicholas (Erin) Langworthy, of Amherst; and a sister, Linda Rose of Forestville. Also surviving are six grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Sally Peebles.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., from where Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Michael Pollock, pastor of Gage Chapel Community Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Balltown Cemetery, Town of Hanover, where graveside military service will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post No. 953, Forestville.
