Norma R. Dynys

Norma R. Dynys, 90, of 75 Elam Ave., died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, in UPMC Chautauqua WCA.

She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., Aug. 2, 1928, a daughter of the late John and Martha Koteras Bialy. She grew up in Western NY and graduated from Delavan High School in 1948.

As a longtime resident of Jamestown, her main focus was raising her children. She was very involved in the PTA, enjoyed bowling, cooking, baking and working in the garden. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, unlimited patience, and abounding love of family. Norma was woman of quiet strength who was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are four sons Edward Dynys of Jamestown, Joseph (Shelley) Dynys of Upper Burrell, Pa., Frederick (Marilyn) Dynys of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Steven (Sharon) Dynys of Smethport, Pa.; 10 grandchildren: Andrew (Heather) Dynys, Stacey (Terry) Owens, Benjamin (Jennifer) Dynys, Timothy (Suzanna) Dynys, Daniel (Pamela) Dynys and Christopher, Anne, Kimberly, Amber and Tyler Dynys; 21 great-grandchildren; three brothers: John, Benjamin and Chester Bialy; and two sisters: Joyce LaRose and Nancy White, and sister-in-law, Stella Dynys, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dynys, Jr., whom she married Jan. 22, 1952, and who died Oct. 15, 2012; two sisters: Helen Byram and Florence Lee and, eight brothers: Matthew, Joseph, Louis, Frank, Alfred, Raymond, James and Robert Bialy.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Her grandson, Benjamin Dynys, will officiate.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
