Doris B. Damcott

Doris B. Damcott, (Bishop), 98, of North Clymer, N.Y., died Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the UMPC Chautauqua WCA.

Doris was born July 31, 1919, in Conewango Valley, N.Y., to the late Ralph and Elma (Chapman) Bishop.

While Doris was a hardworking and dedicated homemaker and housewife, she had various jobs in her lifetime. Doris worked at Jamestown Steel Partitions, Bigelow’s, Clymer Central Schools and Peek’n Peak.

She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. Doris was a long-time member of the Clymer Hill Reformed Church, where she was active in the “Faith at Work” women’s organization among other groups at the church. A kind, caring and loving person by her nature, she truly enjoyed all those who came in to her life.

On April 25, 1943, Doris married Norman Damcott. The couple was married for 53 years at the time of Norman’s death in 1996.

She is survived by three daughters: Bonnie (David) Christoferson of Bemus Point, N.Y., Lynette (Henry) Harper of Sinclairville, N.Y., and Wendy (Scott) Fuller of Monroe, Ga.; two grandchildren: Holly Mooney and Jonah Fuller; a great-grandchild, Kathryn Mooney; two sisters-in-law and nieces and a nephew.

Besides her husband, Norman Damcott and parents, Ralph and Elma Bishop, she is predeceased by her son, Terry Damcott; two brothers: Forest and Irwin Bishop; and son-in-law, Russell Mooney IV.

Calls may be made at the Clymer Hill Reformed Church, 8441 Ravlin Hill Road, Clymer, N.Y., on Saturday from 12:30-2 p.m., where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Holland Cemetery.

Doris was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
