Laurence T. Pace

Laurence T. Pace, 63, of Jamestown, formerly of Falconer, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 15, 2017) in UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital.

He was born March 26, 1954, in Salamanca, N.Y., the son of the late Laurence C. Pace and Marie E. Scharf Pace.

Laurence was a 1972 graduate of Falconer High School, 1974 graduate of Jamestown Community College and 1976 graduate of St. Bonaventure University with a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology. He was employed by Chautauqua County Youth Bureau for 30 years as deputy director.

He was a member of: Chautauqua County Outreach Network, Chautauqua County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition, Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. Youth Advisory Council, Safe House of Chautauqua Advisory Board, Coordinated Children’s Service Initiative (CCSI) Tier II Committee, Western New York Association of Youth Boards & Youth Bureaus, Association of New York State Youth Bureaus, City of Jamestown Youth Services Board and Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation, Improvement Corporation (CHRIC) board of directors and Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church.

He was a past member of Chautauqua Striders, Inc. board of directors and treasurer, Chautauqua County Mentoring Partnership, Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Services having served as past chair of the advisory board; APPS/ Growing Together Program, City of Jamestown Weed & Seed Steering Committee, Northside Pride Neighborhood Revitalization board of directors, Chautauqua County Tobacco Control Coalition, Infinity Performing Arts Program and Falconer Fire Department.

Laurence was a sports enthusiast and had coached Falconer Little League Baseball and Our Lady of Loreto Basket Ball. He bowled in several leagues at Jamestown Bowling Company and coached junior bowling. Laurence played in several softball leagues for: firemen leagues, church leagues, Southern Tier League and Tim Brown Social League.

Surviving are two brothers: Charles “Chuck” Pace of Parrish, Fla., Robert “Bob” (Caryn) Pace of Jamestown and a niece Jessica Pace.

He was preceded in death by his father Laurence C. Pace on Feb. 11, 1972, and his mother Marie E. Scharf Pace on April 1, 2006.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, Falconer. The Rev. Joseph Janaczek, pastor of the church, will be celebrant. A brunch will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Falcons Crest Banquet Facility located at 2001 E. Main St., Falconer, N.Y. Inurnment will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Springville, N.Y.

Memorials may be donated to a youth nonprofit organization or to a charity of one’s choice.
