Lois A. Bowder
Lois A. Bowder, 73, of Falconer, passed away unexpectedly Friday (Oct. 27, 2017) in her home.
She was born May 27, 1944, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Roy and Alice Alberg Burch.
She was a 1962 graduate of Falconer High School and prior to retirement was employed as a home health aide. Lois was a long-time member of Ross Mills Church of God and served as the church secretary for 25 years. She was currently serving as secretary for the WNY Church of God and had held that position for 40 years.
Surviving are her son, Darren (Lynn) Bowder of Colfax, N.C.; her daughter, Robin (Kris) Olson of Frewsburg, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Rebecca (Kevin) Chamberlin, Brandin (Lauren) Smith, Latara (Karl) Eisenhauer and Philip Olson; three great-grandsons: Aaron Steen, Michael Chamberlin and Andy Steen; three sisters: Louise Wright, Kathy Burch and Rebecca FitzPatrick.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian O. Bowder, whom she married Sept. 14, 1962, and who died Oct. 29, 2013; two sisters: Barbara Miller and Shirley Swan-son; and a brother, Kenneth Burch.
Lois also became a great collector of cows: stuffed, ceramic, you name it she had the cow for it. She rescued and raised numerous stray dogs and cats over the years and had a huge love for all animals. She was also an avid reader and could easily finish about four books a week. She was extremely clever with writing poems and jingles and did so often whenever there was a family or church get together. She loved work-ing on puzzle books. Lois was always the first one to finish games at bridal and baby showers. Lois could and would strike up a conversation with strangers on a regular basis. She loved cruising on the Royal Caribbean with her sisters, nieces and friends.
Lois well be dearly remembered and missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Lois’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Ross Mills Church of God. The Rev. David Olson, pastor of Ross Mills Church, will of-ficiate.
Friends will be received by the family from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home and one hour prior to the ser-vice Wednesday in the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701, or to an animal shelter or rescue organization of your choice.
