Dr. John A. Fust

SHERMAN — Dr. John A. Fust, 96 of Sherman, died May 20, 2017, at LECOM Senior Living Center, 5535 Peach St., Erie, Pa. He was born January 31, 1921 in Erie, Pa., the son of the late John H.E. and Dorothy (Cooke) Fust.

John had been a Pathologist for Hamot Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mayville, N.Y., and earlier St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Erie, Pa.

He is survived by two sons: Ford Andrew (Pat) Fust and Thomas Fust; a daughter, Mary H. (Charles) Dundon; two grandsons: Owen and Ben Fust; and by a lifetime of friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary B. Fust, whom he married Nov. 29, 1947; a son, John H.E. Fust II; a sister, Georgiana Patterson; and by a lifetime of friends.

The four months of his 96th year was the most difficult time of his lifetime. Yet with his friends, the compassionate nursing unit on Four West of the LECOM Senior Living Center and with their love and attentive care, he reached the end of his blessed life.

Burial was in Bemus Point Cemetery on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, in the Bemus Point Cemetery.

A celebration of life ser-vice will be officiated by Father Richard Elberfeld of St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mayville on Sunday, May 28, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 20 E. Marvin St., Mayville, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 99 S. Erie St., Mayville, NY 14757.

Arrangements are being handled by the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville.
