Kenneth R. “Ken” Stufflebeam

Kenneth Stufflebeam,

Kenneth R. “Ken” Stufflebeam, 88, of Kennedy, passed away Friday (Feb. 24, 2017) in Warren Manor Nursing Home, Warren, Pa.

A lifelong area resident, he was born Feb. 7, 1929, in Jamestown, the son of the late Robert and Florence Stufflebeam.

Ken attended Panama High School and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army from 1951-53 in Japan. In earlier years Ken was employed by Art Metal Corporation and prior to retirement was employed by Lyons (LTL) Transportation.

He was a member of the Fluvanna Community Church. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and a high school sports fanatic. Kenneth also loved mowing lawns, including the church lawn.

Surviving are his wife, Alta Marie Thurber Stufflebeam, whom he married March 25, 1951, in Jamestown; two sons: Dennis (Candy) Stufflebeam of Monroe, N.C., and Randall Stufflebeam of Kennedy; three grandchildren: Jared (Ashley) Stufflebeam of Cary, N.C., Ashleigh (Michael) Pilotte of Indian Trail N.C., and Kacyn (Ryan) Cheney of Kennedy, N.Y.; five great- grandchildren: Raegan Cheney and Brynn Cheney both of Kennedy, Carleigh Stufflebeam and Ronin Stufflebeam of Cary, N.C., and Ana Lee Donahue of Indian Trail, N.C.

He was preceded in death by a grandson. Austin Brooks Stufflebeam; a brother. Wayne Stufflebeam; a sister. Evelyn Sweeney; a nephew. William “Bill” Sweeney; and a niece, Kathy Sweeney.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Fluvanna Community Church, where Pastor Dayle Keefer will officiate.

Friends will be received from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in the Fluvanna Community Church.

Memorials may be donated to the Fluvanna Community Church Building Fund.
