Thomas E. Swearingen

MONROE, N.Y. – Thomas E. Swearingen, a longtime resident of the area, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Highland Rehabilitation in Middletown, N.Y. He was 80 years old. Son of the late Cloise E. and Doris Dougherty Swearingen, he was born Sept. 23, 1935, in Jamestown, N.Y. Thomas was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retired wholesale manager with Kuiken Bros., Warwick, N.Y. He was a member and usher with St. Anastasia Parish Church, Harriman, N.Y., a member of Conklin & Strong Bowling Team, and a Monroe-Woodbury Little League umpire.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen G. Swearingen, at home; his son, Walter Swearingen of Bronx, N.Y.; his daughter, Donna Forsyth and her husband Michael of Blooming Grove, N.Y.; his brothers: C. Van Swearingen of Sherrill, N.Y., and James R. Swearingen of Midway, Ky.; his grandchildren: Jonathan, Samantha and Thomas. Thomas was predeceased by his brother Joseph, and sisters: Arta and Donna.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Friday, April 22, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe, N.Y. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at St. Anastasia Parish Church, Route 17M, Harriman, N.Y. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, N.Y.
