Rose Jean Taft Taylor

Calling hours for Rose Jean Taft Taylor, 74, of Salamanca, N.Y., formerly of Kennedy, N.Y., who died Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., will be held on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, in the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y., from 4 – 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the United Congregational Methodist Church, 134 Broad St., Salamanca, N.Y., with Rev. Michael Trenchard officiating.

Rose Jean Taft Taylor, 74, of Salamanca, N.Y., formerly of Kennedy, N.Y., died early Friday morning, Oct. 2, 2015, at Strong Memorial Hospital, following a short illness.

Born July 11, 1941, in Oil City, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Martha Perry Pleger. She was married to Floyd Taft, who predeceased her. She was married Oct. 14, 2006, in United Congregational Methodist Church to Richard Taylor, who survives.

Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of the Oil City Hospi-tal School of Nursing, as well as earning a degree in human services from Jamestown Community College.

She had been employed as a registered nurse for The Resource Center in Jamestown prior to her retirement.

She was a member of the United Congregational Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535. She enjoyed crocheting and read-ing.

Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Candace (Ed) Martinescu, Webster, N.Y.; a stepson, Thomas Taylor, Salamanca, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; three brothers: John “Jack” (Mary) Pleger, Oil City, Pa., Edward (Sally) Pleger, Mansfield, Ohio, and Robert Pleger, Salamanca, N.Y.; two sisters: Jane (Wayne) Manruss, Panama City, Fla., and Nancy (Richard) Murray, Oil City, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y., on Friday, Oct. 16, from 4-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the United Congre-gational Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 17, with the Rev. Michael Trenchard officiating.
