Robert W. Davis III

RANDOLPH – Robert W. Davis III, 76, of Fifth Avenue, Randolph, passed away, Saturday, April 11, 2015, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in Gerry, N.Y.

He was born June 15, 1938, in Wrightsville, Pa., the son of the late Robert W. and Jessie S. Bull Davis Jr.

Bob attended Wrightsville High School and then went to work for MRC-SKF in Jamestown and Falconer for 35 years, retiring in 2002. He loved working there and took great pride as a Lathe Operator.

He also loved his late cat Earl, working on auto mobiles, wood working and riding motorcycles in his younger days. Following retirement he became an avid walker, enjoyed his neighborhood friend Jackson, as they had their nightly visits. The family would like to especially thank Bob’s stepdaughters; Connie and Tammy for helping care for him at home, the East wing staff at Heritage Village for their excellent care, as well as Dr. Rudolph Mueller.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mary M. Dutton Davis, whom he married on Sept. 30, 1978; a son, Robert Davis IV and his wife Debra of Bemus Point, N.Y.; two stepsons: Steven Vilardo of Russell, Pa., and Anthony Vilardo and wife Kelly of Enterprise, Ala.; a daughter, Penelope Pratt and husband Robert of Mifflinburg, Pa.; three stepdaughters: Connie L. Eckholm and husband Gary of Millhall, Pa., Tammy L. Phan and husband Scott of Russell, Pa., and Michelle A. Patterson and husband Roy of Taylors, S.C.

Also surviving are a brother, Donald Davis and wife Margaret of Wrightsville, Pa.; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Skinner.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2015n in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, where the family will receive friends one hour prior. John Knowles Congdon will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Wrightsville Cemetery, Freehold, Pa.
