Josephine R. “Josie” LaPlaca

Josephine R. “Josie” LaPlaca, 91, passed away Fri-day, Dec. 5, 2014, in the Lutheran Home and Reha-bilitation Center.

She was born Dec. 3, 1923, in Falconer, N.Y., the daughter of the late Liborio and Bessie Giambrone LaPlaca.

Josie was a 1941 graduate of Falconer High School. For 23 years, she worked at the former Goldstar Market, and later worked at the Celoron Grocery for 10 years and Brigiotta’s Farmland for six years. Josie was a communicant of St James Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading and worshipping at church.

Surviving are two sisters, Nellie Carlson and Teresa LaPlaca, both of Jamestown and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Centi; and two brothers, Vincent “Jim” LaPlaca and Russell LaPlaca.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, Lutheran Chaplain, will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
