Forestville teen drowns in rough Lake Erie waters

ANGOLA --- The Evans Police Department is investigating a drowning in the rough waters that took place at Lake Erie Beach Park on Friday, claiming the life of a 15-year-old Forestville boy. Police, in a release issued Saturday, said they responded at 3:31 p.m. to the report of the boy who had reportedly gone underwater and did not resurface. The teen was located after being spotted by park lifeguards who then removed him from the lake and began life-saving measures until additional emergency personnel arrived. County’s Safety Net needs millions more

Chautauqua County’s Safety Net program is once again running in the red and needs millions of dollars to cover its shortfall. One way or another the county will have to come up with the funds for the program, but at least one county official doesn’t want its reserves used to make up the difference.
