Lakewood Man Dies In Crash On Motorcycle

A 65-year-old Lakewood man was killed when a vehicle pulled into the path of the motorcycle he was riding Friday evening in West Ellicott.

The Ellicott Police Department confirmed Saturday that Richard W. Burham died as the result of injuries in the collision. The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Fairmount Avenue near the intersection Green Avenue.

Ellicott police told The Post-Journal that an eastbound motorist, later identified as 52-year-old Michael G. Hart of Falconer, pulled into the path of a westbound motorcycle while making a left turn onto Green Avenue.

After the collision, Burham was taken by ambulance to UPMC Chautauqua and later moved to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa.

A portion of Fairmount Avenue was briefly closed to traffic due to the crash.

Volunteer firefighters responded, as did officers with the Ellicott Police Department.

Hart was cited for failure to yield and is scheduled to appear in Ellicott Town Court later.
