According to a police report, Westfield police officers received a tip Tuesday that a Level 2 registered sex offender was living in the Thruway Motel in Westfield without properly updating his address with local law enforcement or the state Sex Offender Registry. JAMESTOWN POLICE - Joseph Helms, 43, and Cody Reichenbach, 31, both of Jamestown, were charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, possession of burglar’s tools, and third-degree criminal tampering at 1:11 p.m. Tuesday after officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at a north side address. Deputies said she was found sleeping in a vehicle in a parking lot of a village business on Route 430 around 7 a.m. She allegedly had narcotics in her possession. CHERRY CREEK CAR FIRES BEING PROBED CHERRY CREEK — At 6:09 a.m. Sunday, the Cherry Creek Fire Department responded to Dredge Ditch Road in the Town of Cherry Creek for a reported vehicle fire. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation. JAMESTOWN POLICE - John L. Alvarez, 36, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree attempted robbery July 9 after officers were dispatched to the downtown area for a reported fight. Officers located a 19-year-old laying on the ground who said he was jumped by an unknown male. Officers say they located John Lopez Alvarez nearby. Alvarez allegedly was punching and kicking the victim while he was on the ground and stated he was going to take the victim’s property until a passerby yelled out and deterred Alvarez.
