CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT - Deputies aided the Ripley Volunteer Fire Department Oct. 6th as firefighters responded to an East Slide Hill Road address for a reported fire in the town of Ripley. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation. Investigators were able to determine that the fire was caused by discarded cooking materials from an outdoor smoker. The fire was ruled as accidental in nature. - Jamie P. ELLICOTT POLICE - James D.L. Peterson, 42 , of Jamestown, was charged Sept. 25 with driving while Intoxicated, driving while ability impaired by drugs and no seatbelt. According to police, at about 8 a.m., officers responded to a traffic violation, where it is alleged Peterson was observed not wearing his seatbelt. Upon further investigation it was found that Peterson was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs. Peterson will be in Ellicott Town Court later. - Jordan A. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT SHERMAN — At around 11:14 p.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on Sherman-Stedman Road. The operator was identified as Derek R. Davis. Further investigation found Davis to be driving while intoxicated. He was charged with DWI, DWI per se, and Speed in Zone. He will be in court later. JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT James T. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT — SILVER CREEK — At around 11:07 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to Central Avenue and Christy Street for a report of a person leaving the scene of an accident. The operator was identified as Alexandria J. Amendola, 73, of Silver Creek. Further Investigation found that Amendola was operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated. She was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, moving from lane unsafely, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT - John J. Kleinfelder, 71, of Mayville, was charged Sept. 26 with driving while intoxicated, and having inadequate plate lamps. According to officials, at about 9:53 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the town of Chautauqua. Upon further investigation Kleinfelder, the driver, was found to be driving while intoxicated. Kleinfelder was placed into custody, and taken to the sheriff’s office. LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT - Cheryl A. Bartz, 44, of Batavia, was charged Sept. 28 with driving while intoxicated, and unsafe backing. According to police, at about 7:35 p.m., officers responded to Chautauqua Avenue, in Lakewood, for a motor vehicle accident. Upon further investigation, Bartz was found to be allegedly operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Bartz was placed into custody, and will be in Busti Town Court later.
