JAMESTOWN POLICE

– Mark G. Watson, 35, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest as well as a traffic citation at 2:47 a.m. Tuesday after officers pulled a vehicle over near East Seventh and Liberty Streets. An officer observed Watson riding an electric scooter on the street and committing a traffic violation. Due to the observed vehicle and traffic law violation officers reportedly tried to perform a street check on Watson, when he fled on foot behind a nearby residence. According to a police report, a brief foot pursuit occurred until Watson was caught and arrested. While in custody it was discovered that Watson allegedly had a quantity of crack cocaine on his person and 82 small plastic baggies commonly used for distributing individual amounts of illegal drugs. Through investigation it was also discovered that Watson had an active probation warrant for possession of stolen property. Watson was taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned. Watson will also have to answer to his probation warrant.

– Darin L. Bates, 26, of Jamestown was charged with first-degree criminal contempt as well as for having a felony arrest warrant at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after officers responded to a west side address for a reported Order of Protection violation. Officers spoke with a person who said Bates violated a stay away Order of Protection with the person before Bates left the area. It was also found that Bates had an outstanding felony arrest warrant out of Jamestown City Court. While speaking with the other person, police say Bates returned to the scene and was subsequently charged. Bates was taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.

– Kieran J. Hunt, 33, homeless, was charged with resisting arrest as well as having an active bench warrant after officers pulled a vehicle over at 4:13 a.m. Wednesday. Hunt had an active bench warrant from the Jamestown Police Department and, after being told of the warrant, allegedly tried to fight with officers while being placed in custody. Hunt was eventually taken to the Jamestown City Jail to await arraignment.

– Dylan S. Griffith, 34, of Jamestown was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and resisting arrest at 2 a.m. Wednesday after officers patrolling the city’s north side allegedly saw Griffith walking with a person for whom there was an order of protection for Griffith to stay away. Upon seeing the patrol car Griffith allegedly ran into a residence. Officers made contact with the tenant who allowed officers to check the residence. After a short time officers report finding Griffith hiding in a closet. Griffith was charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.

– Andre T. Taylor, 36, of Jamestown was charged at 1 a.m. Wednesday with second-degree criminal contempt after officers responded to a downtown address for an alleged order of protection violation. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Taylor, who they say was actively violating a duly served order of protection by remaining in the residence with the other person. Taylor was taken to the city jail without incident until he could be arraigned.

– Mitchell C. Blanchard Sr., 37, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree assault at 4:24 a.m. Wednesday after officers responded to an east side home for a report of an unwanted man. Upon further investigation, it was determined that a domestic dispute had taken place leading to charges against Blanchard, who allegedly hit another person in the face with his fist. Blanchard was charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.

– Robert G. Gilbert, 24, of Jamestown was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at 7:18 p.m. Aug. 19 after officers responded with Chautauqua County Probation Officers in the area of Stowe Street for a home visit of Gilbert. While checking the residence officers allegedly found a plastic bag containing suspected drugs. Gilbert was charged and taken to the city jail. The suspected drugs were tested and, according to police, confirmed to be an opiate/methamphetamine compound. Gilbert was charged and held in the jail until he could be arraigned.

– Zachary A. Miller, 33, of Jamestown was taken into custody at 4:23 p.m. Tuesday on several bench warrants from the Jamestown and Ellicott police departments after city police officers allegedly saw him running into a house on the north side. Officers set a perimeter, during which time Miller allegedly tried to run out a side door. When Miller saw officers, he allegedly changed course and went back into the residence. Miller was arrested a short time later and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned, after which police said he would be turned over to Ellicott police officers to face charges in Ellicott.

– Kayla M. Lutgen, 20, of Jamestown was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday after officers saw a woman slumped over in the passenger seat of a parked vehicle on the north side of Jamestown. Officers checked on the woman by knocking on the window of the vehicle and allegedly saw her drop drug paraphernalia that she had in her hand. Officers were advised by Ellicott police officers that Lutgen was wanted for an alleged larceny in Ellicott. During the incident city police officers reportedly located several items in the vehicle that were stolen from an Ellicott business. Lutgen was charged and taken to the city jail.

– Nathan W. Lamper, 37, of Jamestown, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief (reckless) and violation of the Jamestown City Code government repair of vehicles after a vehicle fire at 1:16 p.m. Tuesday on West Eighth Street at Lafayette Street. City police officers and firefighters responded to a vehicle fire that was extinguished by firefighters without further incident. During the investigation, it was found that Lamper was allegedly using a grinder to repair the frame of the vehicle while parked on the city street. The sparks from the grinder caught leaking fuel from the vehicle on fire. The fire caused $7,000 worth of damage to the city street, terrace and trees. Lamper was subsequently charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.

ELLICOTT POLICE

– Tayler J. Woodward, 35, of Jamestown, was charged with second-degree harassment and trespass at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 14 after officers responded to a past tense domestic dispute, where it is alleged Woodward trespassed on a person’s property and made a threatening phone call to the person. Woodward will be in Ellicott Town Court later.

– Carolyn B. Shields, 43, of Falconer, was charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, license restriction violation and failure to keep right at 11:55 p.m. Aug. 14 after officers pulled a vehicle over. Shields was allegedly driving while intoxicated. She was taken into custody and later released with an appearance ticket for the charges in Ellicott Town Court.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

– Lyndon S. Raynor, 36, of Sinclairville, and Toni L. Long, 35, of Sinclairville, were each charged with second-degree harassment at 12:57 a.m. Aug. 21 after a fight with a person who was allegedly hit and threatened. Raynor and Long will be in Gerry Town Court later.
