JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
— David L. Lewis Jr., 39, of Jamestown, was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Officers stopped a vehicle at 5:30 p.m. Sunday after witnessing a traffic violation at East Sixth Street and Lakeview Avenue. An investigation found that Lewis was allegedly intoxicated while operating the vehicle. It was further learned that Lewis had a revoked license for a prior DWI conviction in the past 10 years. A search also turned up a quantity of cocaine and controlled substance pills. A check later showed that Lewis’ blood alcohol content was 0.26%, more than three times over the legal limit. He was transported to jail and held for arraignment.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
— CLYMER — Jason A. Earle, 26, of Clymer, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief. Deputies responded at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to a residence in the town of Clymer for a reported altercation. An investigation found that Earle allegedly damaged property. He was transported to Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment.
JAMESTOWN FIRE DEPARTMENT
— A blaze at 110 Water St. early Sunday in the city was quickly quelled by Jamestown firefighters. Upon arrival, crews reported smoke coming from the garage and eaves of the structure around 3:30 a.m. The bulk of the fire was knocked down in 20 minutes by crews. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fire crews left the scene by 6:30 a.m.
