JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
¯Andrew J. Webber, 21, of Jamestown was charged Thursday with theft of services. According to police, at about 10:40 a.m., Webber entered the reception area of the Jamestown Police Department to turn himself in his outstanding warrants issued through Jamestown City Court. Before turning himself in, Webber had called a local cab company to arrange transportation from an address outside the city to the Jamestown Police Department. As Webber was being taken into custody on his warrants, it was found that he was alleggedly trying to evade a local cab driver whom he failed to pay. Webber was additionally charged with theft of services for failing to pay his cab fare while trying to turn himself in on his warrants. Webber is being held pending arraignment.
¯ Paul R. Briggs of Jamestown was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony fugitive from justice, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, failure to keep right and inadequate tail lamp while Ryan M. English of Warren was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at 9:47 a.m. Wednesday after Jamestown police officers pulled a vehicle over on Hallock Street in Jamestown. Briggs was arrested after he was found to have several outstanding warrants and operating on a suspended driver license. The warrants were issued out of the Jamestown City Court, by Lakewood-Busti police and from Warren, Pa. English was also arrested after he was found to be in possession of cocaine. Briggs and English were taken to the Jamestown City Jail. Briggs was also allegedly found to illegally be in possession of three different controlled substances with a quantity of pills and methamphetamines that he concealed inside his pants.
DUNKIRK FIRE
DEPARTMENT
¯ A kitchen fire has damaged a home in the city. On Wednesday, the department was dispatched to 58 Ruggles St. at 4:40 p.m. for a report of a stove fire. Upon arrival residents of the home reported a fire on the stove spread to the kitchen. Firefighters made entry and found the minor blaze spread in the kitchen. All fire was extinguished quickly. Light smoke was ventilated from the entire home. There were no injuries. The Red Cross is assisting three adults. The cause of the fire was accidental due to a cooking fire.
ELLICOTTVILLE TOWN POLICE
¯ ELLICOTTVILLE — A 29-year-old Little Valley man who entered a village establishment with a loaded assault rifle last week is facing a number of charges.
Town of Ellicottville Police say Aaron J. Leo of 112 Seventh St., was also found to be in possession of two high-capacity ammunition feeding devices during the incident on March 3. He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of an assault weapon and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon for having the ammunition devices capable of holding more than 10 rounds.
During a felony hearing on March 7, he was released under supervision by the Cattaraugus County district attorney’s office. He is to be back in court at a later date.
