Man Killed In Late Night Shooting In City
A 37-year-old Lockport man was pronounced dead following a shooting reported late Saturday in Jamestown.
Police identified the victim as Shawn Black, who was taken by private vehicle to UPMC Chautauqua.
Officers had been alerted around 11:25 p.m. to reports of multiple shots fired in the area of East Sixth Street at American Place. Soon after, police were told that a vehicle had arrived at the hospital and that a gunshot victim was inside.
The vehicle that drove to the Foote Avenue hospital sustained damage from numerous gunshots.
Jamestown police in a news release Sunday morning said the victim, later identified as the Lockport man, was pronounced dead at UPMC Chautauqua.
No further information, including a possible motive, was released by police. The investigation remains ongoing, JPD said.

Saturday’s incident marks the first homicide in Jamestown since October 2021 when a 46-year-old man was shot and killed outside his Water Street home. The shooting was later described as being part of a targeted attack; no charges have been announced in the Water Street homicide.
