CHQ History Fair to be held Sunday

MAYVILLE - The second annual CHQ History Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at the Town of Chautauqua Community Municipal Building, the former Mayville High School, 2 Academy St., Mayville. Admission is free and open to the public. The event will officially begin with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. The day includes exhibits, lectures, reenactments, live music, genealogy resources, interactive displays and family-friendly activities. Red Cross declares national blood crisis, seeks donors

For only the second time in history, the American Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis. Donors are asked to act immediately to help save lives. Blood donations have fallen to a four-year summer low, worsening this season’s emergency blood shortage. All blood types are needed, but the situation is especially dire for type O blood as the Red Cross is now limiting distributions of these blood products to hospitals. A Warren man’s motion to withdraw his guilty plea entered in May in relation to three felony charges related to a missing New York teenager has been denied. Michael J. Bundy III, 25, pleaded guilty in the Court of Common Pleas on May 7 to one count of second-degree statutory sexual assault: 8-11 years older, one count of second-degree felony aggravated indecent assault – forcible compulsion and one count of third-degree felony corruption of minors – defendant age 18 or over.
