City Man Sentenced In Drug Possession

Kevin Raymond, 60, of Jamestown was sentenced Monday morning by Judge David W. Foley to a determinate state prison sentence of 10 years with three years of post-release supervision after being convicted of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

In March, members of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force executed a search warrant and charged Raymond with felony second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia. Raymond was later indicted by a Chautauqua County Grand Jury on the second- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

In September, Raymond pleaded guilty to the second count of the indictment, a felony, as part of a plea agreement. Raymond was to receive five years in prison. In October, Raymond was charged again by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force on charges of second- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. That case is still pending.

District Attorney Jason Schmidt would like to thank the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Regional Drug Task Force for their work on this case.
