2024 Women of Achievement Recipients; Banquet Date Set
The Alliance for Nonprofit Resources has recently announced the recipients of the YWCA of Jamestown’s 2024 Women of Achievement Awards.
The Women of Achievement Award is given to five different women in five distinct categories. The Rising Star Award, Power the Future Award, Catalyst for Change Award, Shattered Ceiling Award and Impact Award.
According to the Jamestown YWCA’s top executive each year’s list of awardees and nominees continues to amaze her.
“Each year the Women of Achievement recipient and nominee list continues to amaze me,” said Amanda Gesing.”From advocates for the unhoused, social justice activists, artists, doulas, and entrepreneurs to mental health clinicians, social service workers, and teachers, each nominee is truly inspiring. We are privileged to live in a community full of individuals who choose to celebrate greatness in others and provide a nomination. The recipients are committed to supporting women and people of color in Chautauqua County. We hope in celebrating the passion, work, and dedication of these five phenomenal women it will serve as a reminder to celebrate all women and their power.”
According to one of the recipients the award is a blessing and her special guest is a family member.
In a Facebook post, Bonnie Weber, the Impact Award recipient , stated ” What an honor, and for my guest I brought my son, because there is nobody who deserves to stand next to me more than my son who’s helped me every day and every time in my ministry. I am blessed,” she wrote.
This year’s awardees include Chloe Yu, Rising Star Award; Momina Di Blasio, Power the Future Award; Korinda Messenger, Catalyst for Change Award; Kristan McMahon; Shattered Ceiling Award and Bonnie Weber, Impact Award.
The Women of Achievement dinner and celebration is scheduled to be held Friday, August 9th at The Chautauqua Harbor Hotel in Celoron, 10 Dunham Ave. The event is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and a plated meal service is set for 6:30 p.m.
According to the YWCA of Jamestown’s board president, this group of awardees brings to the forefront the incredible work that local women leaders in our community do.
“Our 2024 Women of Achievement event once again brings to the forefront an incredible array of women who are leaders in our community, doing vital work every day. We are excited to have this opportunity to honor their important contributions,” YWCA Jamestown Board President Sue Kellogg, said.
The Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) of Jamestown is a non-for-profit organization whose mission statement reads- to eliminate racism and the empowerment of women and is headquartered locally at 401 N. Main St. The YWCA has championed these causes since inception in 1855; 169 years ago.
