Pair Sentenced In County Court

MAYVILLE — A 29-year-old Jamestown man will serve three to six years in state prison following his arrest earlier this year.

Isaiah Pearson was sentenced Monday by County Court Judge David Foley after pleading guilty in September to a felony third-degree robbery charge. The plea settled a host of outstanding charges he was facing after Jamestown police claim he used a knife in several altercations with the tenants and landlords at a north side property Feb. 26.

Police used a Taser on Pearson after he allegedly refused to exit his apartment and later became combative.

In a news release, the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office said Pearson was also sentenced to two to four years in a separate case in which the city man injured a corrections officer inside the jail. He previously pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted assault for the jail incident.

On Monday, the DA’s office also announced the sentencing of 45-year-old Shawn Conway after the Westfield man pleaded guilty in August to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Conway was arrested on a number of drug-related charges in October 2021 after the Sheriff’s Office searched a town of Mina property.

Foley sentenced Conway to six years in prison, which will run concurrently with a 10- to-15-year sentence imposed for a separate drug conviction from April 2023.
