LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood American Legion has added a defibrillator to its post and will celebrate its 75th anniversary.

In anticipation of the coming anniversary, members of the Lakewood American Legion Post 1286 put into service a brand-new automatic defibrillator as a safeguard to the many guests and members that frequent the clubrooms. This was the same type of device used on Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.

“We hope to never need to use it, but in such an event we are now prepared,” said David Anthony, post commander.

With the new year right around the corner, members will celebrate the 75th year as a post in Lakewood. Future plans for other events are upcoming, and the kickoff will be at their Veterans Day celebration on Saturday at the post.

Anthony and his staff encourage all citizens to come to the ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday at 174 Chautauqua St., Lakewood.
