Chautauqua County drug investigators were assisting the Fredonia Police Department after several containers were removed from a semi Monday.
Officers surrounded the tractor-trailer with out-of-state license plates in the parking lot of Walmart in Fredonia.
A city of Dunkirk lift truck was seen Monday afternoon parked next to the light-colored semi, which appeared to have damage to its trailer. A man in the truck’s boom bucket was observed looking into the trailer, while another man was photographed with what appeared to be a black plastic container.
Several of the containers were then stacked next to the truck.
Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone said Fredonia police were ‘investigating with assistance from our drug investigators.’
No further information was available by press time.
