One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a crash between a vehicle and a state Thruway truck Monday afternoon on Interstate 90.

A portion of the eastbound lane, between the Dunkirk and Westfield exits, was reduced to one lane for several hours as a result of the crash — reported around 1:30 p.m. in the town of Pomfret.

According to the New York State Police in a news release, a passenger vehicle struck a Thruway platform lift truck from behind. A Thruway employee suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene; a passenger was airlifted to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. No names were released by the state police.

Chautauqua County EMS, Alstar EMS and members of the Fredonia Fredonia Department also responded Monday to the interstate.
