More Than Half Of Adults Vaccinated In County

More than half of Chautauqua County’s population over the age of 18 have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, the state Health Department reported.

To date, 43,765 county residents have completed their vaccination series, meaning they have received both doses of the two-shot COVID vaccine or have received the one-dose shot. Meanwhile, 52,511 county residents have received at least one dose.

In Cattaraugus County, 22,571 have completed their vaccinations series while 26,599 have received at least one shot.

There have been several vaccination clinics taking place locally, including one held Thursday at Love Elementary School in Jamestown. As of 2:30 p.m., more than 60 shots had been administered at the school.

According to the Chautauqua County Department of Health, walk-ins will be welcomed at a clinic today at Brocton Central School, 138 W. Main St., Brocton, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Another clinic is being hosted today at Brooks Memorial Hospital, 529 Central Ave., Dunkirk, between 8-10 a.m. that require registration at chqgov.com/public-health/covid-19-vaccination-clinics.

COVID-19 vaccinations also continue to be available at several pharmacies, including CVS, Rite Aid, Tops Markets, Wegmans, Walgreens and Walmart.

COUNTY PASSES 9K COVID MARK

The county this week passed 9,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus. On Thursday, the health department recorded 14 new cases, with five coming in the Jamestown zip code, two in Fredonia and one each in Dunkirk, Bemus Point, Cassadaga, Falconer, Kennedy, Mayville and Panama.

To date, there have been 9,022 total confirmed cases, 8,763 recoveries and 152 virus-related deaths. As of Thursday, there were 107 active cases, nine people with the virus in the hospital and 481 in quarantine.

In Cattaraugus County, 11 new cases were reported Thursday. There are currently 153 active cases, 21 in the hospital and 682 in quarantine. To date, there have been 5,464 total cases, 5,204 recoveries and 101 virus-related deaths.
