Marsh, Graduates Honored Through WCA Foundation Fund

Murray Marsh, one of the most dedicated health care administrators in the history of Jamestown, was remembered at the 2020 graduation of the UPMC Chautauqua School of Radiology and Medical Laboratory Science Program through the scholarships given in his honor.

Marsh, the former CEO of WCA Hospital, now UPMC Chautauqua, was honored through the presentation of the Outstanding Student Awards created by his family through the Murray S. Marsh Scholarship Fund. Each year awards are given from the earnings of the fund which is administered by WCA Foundation.

Named with the honor of being the outstanding students of their graduating class and given a $500 award was Kendra Grace Everett and Sarah L. Suarez.

Everett earned a bachelor of science degree at the State University at Fredonia majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry before entering the UPMC Chautauqua School of Radiology. She is joining UPMC Chautauqua as a licensed radiologic technologist following her graduation from UPMC Chautauqua School of Radiology and AART registry exam completion.

Suarez, who will also graduate from Canisius College with a bachelor of science degree in clinical laboratory science following her graduation the hospital’s Medical Laboratory Science Program. Suarez has passed her credentialing exam which classifies her as a licensed New York state medical laboratory scientist. She has secured employment in the research laboratory at Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo. She has secured employment in the research laboratory at Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo.

The fund was created at WCA Foundation by the late Marsh’s family in 2000 to honor the patriarch who set standards for himself, his family and his beloved hospital which led to paths of excellence in performance and delivery of service to the community. The student’s academic record and their clinical excellence determine capability. Self-accountability for actions, information and ability, reflect responsibility. Compassion is manifested in an attitude of respect and caring toward patients and coworkers. And, reinvestment in community health is indicated through a commitment to continue in service in a community healthcare profession.
