Gerry Man Charged After Growing Operation Found

GERRY — A Gerry man is facing marijuana possession charges after a growing operation was found on his property in late June.

Charged was 47-year-old Jonathan L. Barmore after members of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, Chautauqua County SWAT and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at his 2638 Elwell Road home in Gerry. The search warrant was issued by Chautauqua County Court Judge David Foley and based on an investigation by the task force, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

The search took place June 29.

A search of Barmore’s home and outbuildings revealed a marijuana growing operation as well as a quantity of drying marijuana. As a result of the seizure, Barmore was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a Class D felony, and unlawfully growing cannabis. He is scheduled to answer the charges in Gerry Town Court at a later date.

The task force is comprised of investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and Dunkirk Police Department, Anyone with information regarding narcotics-related activity is asked to call 800-344-8702 or 363-0313.
