An Amish sawmill was destroyed by fire Tuesday in the town of Clymer.
Clymer fire chief Ed Faulkner said the fire at 9227 Cherry Hill Road likely began due to a diesel power unit. Faulkner said the unit caught on fire and “got the building going.”
The fire was reported around 1:20 p.m.
“It was pretty much fully involved upon arrival,” Faulkner said.
Firefighters had the blaze under control in about an hour, Faulkner said. There were no injuries reported.
Mutual aid companies included Sherman, Findley Lake, Ripley, Panama and Mayville volunteers fire departments.
Faulkner said these types of fires are not common. “The last one we responded to was a year ago today,” he said Tuesday. “That one wasn’t Amish though.”
